High-temperature converter concepts for integrated generators
The Research Training Group "Integrated Energy Supply Modules for Roadbound E-Mobility" (mobilEM) is investigating into the future of mobility. This requires new innovative solutions for the power train. A novel converter topology for a switched reluctance generator (GRM) is developed within this project that couples a generator control of a GRM with a DC/DC converter functionality. This allows a range extender to operate with a GRM as a generator, provide a variable DC-link voltage for the traction drive, and save a separate DC/DC converter. The elimination of an additional DC/DC converter saves weight and space, while the variable DC-link voltage enables an increased efficiency of the traction drive in partial-load operation.
