Abstract
Complex electronic systems, like battery packs, are developed with respect to the highest energy and power densities. This requires a close look at the safety of such battery packs. Battery management systems currently perform this task with limited sensory data. To improve this data acquisition, two types added value systems were developed and implemented to improve the fault detection of already existing sensor wiring. This thesis shows how standard battery management systems can be upgraded to detect faults along and within sensor wires to trace and measure for example mechanical pinching, temperature rise or existence of fluids.
