Abstract
Because of the fluctuated characteristics of wind power, the wind power should be forecasted with unexpected forecast errors. Based on the physical probability distribution of forecast errors, the piecewise exponential distribution is chosen as the best probability distribution model to generate different forecast scenarios. In addition, a detailed evaluation of historical time series data for electricity price is introduced. In this dissertation, the two layer optimization which consists of the genetic algorithm and linear optimization was proposed and applied in the simulation to build up the optimized dimension and operation strategy of a wind-storage system. With consideration of the battery aging and battery cost, the optimized solution can help the wind-storage system to achieve high revenue in the German electricity market and improve the friendliness to the power grid because of the forecast errors reduction.
