Innovation Award 2023 for Accure and Prof. Sauer
The NRW 2023 Innovation Awards were presented in Düsseldorf on September 26. In the category "innovation2business" the start-up company Accure and Prof. Sauer were awarded.
"Accure" was founded in 2020 by Dr. Kai-Philipp Kairies, Dr. Georg Angenendt and Dr. Johannes Palmerist. The company emerged from the Chair of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage Systems Technology led by Professor Dirk Uwe Sauer and monitors the performance, safety and longevity of batteries, based on extensive data and the use of AI. Dirk Uwe Sauer and co-founder Kai-Philipp Kairies received the award in the category "innovation2business" from Minister Mona Neubaur on Monday evening in Düsseldorf.
"This honor means a lot to us," Sauer said, "because we are stepping up to change things with our research." Technologies, according to the chair and head of Europe's largest research group for battery systems, must be brought into the economy. It is precisely this achievement that has now been honored, with the jury stating: "The "innovation2business" award category honors individuals who have developed a successful business model from outstanding ideas for product or process innovations." The award in this category is always given to a tandem of entrepreneurial personality and innovator. The category is endowed with 50,000 euros, the prize money is earmarked for research purposes.
