Research Group Energy Storage Systems

Batteries are consciously and even more often unconsciously a naturally part of our daily life. Our attention is mostly called on these useful energy storages when they are not working as expected. The aim of our work is to support system engineers and battery manufacturers in the design of systems where batteries work as inconspicuously, as efficient and as economic as possible.
Therefore a deep technical and scientific knowledge of the possible battery technologies and the system round it is necessary. Based on these facts we optimize operating conditions, identify the optimal battery technology and design or develop models which can predict the behaviour of the batteries for planning and development. During operation a focus is on battery management, diagnosis with regard to state of charge, ageing and power performance, and optimized charging strategies.
We concentrate these competencies in Germany´s largest university-based research group, which is working exclusively on battery system technology with in total around 30 people - based on more than 30 years of experience at ISEA.
We would like to invite you to inform yourself about our activities on these webpages and of course in a personal call for further information. Based on the application und the resulting questions we would like to explain you our methods and competencies and also our services and offers for battery characterization with regard to electrical performance or lifetime, seminars and further education or teaching.
